The “home turf” and Grey Earth of EWS Valberg was set to be another iconic event on the Enduro World Series calendar.
The seventh and penultimate round of the season saw Team Lapierre Gravity Enduro riders go into the race with only two riders. Nico Vouilloz marked his return from injury however Rae Morrison is still in recovery from a broken foot suffered in Whistler.
U21 star Adrien Dailly was set to defend his points lead having shown incredible consistency and was pumped ready for action.
The race promised big drama and testing conditions, Friday’s prologue was cancelled due to bad weather, but the forecast storms never quite arrived.
Nico came out swinging, pushing former DH World Champion Sam Hill all the way on each stage. Finally finishing just 9 seconds back over the 7 stages of racing.
Adrien rode hard all weekend to take the win, however his main rival Sebastien Claquin has now recovered some points meaning the pair are tied in the overall series ranking as we head to the final race in Finale in a couple of week.
Can Nico maintain his form and put in another great result? Can Adrien fight off the pressure and be crowned U21 World Enduro Champion? All eyes on the season final in Finale Ligura – October 1st / 2nd.
